The eagerly anticipated Paris Retail Week 2023 is set to take place from Tuesday, September 19, to Thursday, September 21. The vibrant event will be hosted in Pavilion 4 of the Paris Porte de Versailles exhibition center. 

It presents a unique opportunity for E-Commerce professionals to come together, fostering valuable connections with their peers and solution providers while exploring the comprehensive realm of the business experience.

Paris Retail Week serves as a valuable platform for learning and professional growth, offering a diverse array of keynotes and solution workshops.

In the previous edition of this remarkable event, over 20,000 professionals from across Europe converged to partake in the wealth of knowledge shared by 60 esteemed speakers. Day 1: Covering Marketing, Data, and Marketplaces Themes

Day 1 of Paris Retail Week promises an exciting lineup of events covering Marketing, Data, and Marketplace themes. 

The day kicks off with an introduction by Arnaud Gallet, the Event Director of Paris Retail Week, setting the stage for a day filled with insightful discussions. 

Vincent Mayet, the Founder of Havas Commerce, takes the floor next, shedding light on the uncertainties faced by the world trade economy and the evolving landscape of physical shops, data importance, and the role of emerging technologies.

A fireside chat follows, featuring an interview with Seth Dallaire, Executive Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer of Walmart U.S., and feedback from industry leaders, Marc Delozanne, Philippe Brochard, and Jacques Creyssel. 

The afternoon boasts engaging sessions with experts like Gabriel de Montessus from Worldpay, who will explore the future omnichannel buyer and the challenges shaping the retail industry. 

Isolde Andouard, CEO of Undiz, will discuss the significance of community in brand creation and innovation, while Nabil Ait Yahia from Publicis FR will share insights on Data science and AI’s value for companies. 

The day concludes with a keynote Fox Intelligence, revealing the secret trends of E-commerce in 2023, and a Mentoring session led by Michelle Lau, Managing Director France of Alibaba Group, on the importance of marketplaces and overcoming obstacles for exporting growth. 

Day 2: Covering CSR, NewPayments, and Agile Customer Journey Themes

Day 2 of Paris Retail Week is packed with exciting events centered around CSR, New Payments, and Agile Customer Journey themes, featuring renowned brands and industry experts.

The day begins with a Keynote by Laetitia Faure, founder of Urban Sublime, and Estelle Urbain, the New Business and new Services Leader of KIABI, who will discuss the importance of innovation and green practices in retail. They will present concrete examples from around the world, transforming retail into virtuous, responsible, and innovative spaces.

Next, a Mentoring session will be led by Alexandre Rubin, CEO of Yves Rocher France & Benelux, discussing the compatibility of infinite growth and CSR, and addressing the challenges faced by large companies in scaling up their responsible practices.

The Paris Retail Awards ceremony follows, honoring the best retail innovations across various business areas. It aims to recognize players offering effective solutions to the challenges faced by the retail and e-commerce sectors.

In the afternoon, Guillaume Seneclauze, President of Monoprix/Naturalia, will share insights on (re)engaging people in physical stores, and Flore Assié-Soyez, Customer Experience/Digital/Omnichannel Director of DECATHLON, will explore the importance of agile customer experience and the role of consumer co-creation.

Day 3: Covering Logistics and Omnichannel Commerce Themes

Day 3 of Paris Retail Week is all about Logistics and Omnichannel Commerce themes, featuring insightful discussions and renowned brands.

The day starts with the presentation of a study by  La Fevad & KPMG on how E-Commerce conquers Gen-Z, led by Géraldine Chevallier and François-Xavier Leroux.

Then a round table follows, discussing how to meet the expectations of a connected and engaged generation, featuring industry leaders Marc Lolivier from La Fevad, Francis Barel from Paypal France, Selma Bekhechi from Carrefour, and Grégory Gazagne from Snap Inc.

The morning continues with a Keynote from Toloka, followed by a Mentoring session on Commerce Omnicanal, exploring how to blur the boundaries between online and offline and deliver an immersive experience. Meet Alice Hagger, the designated mentor for Agile Customer Journey expertise at Paris Retail Week 2023. As the Head of Global Brand Strategy and International Activation at Made.com, a renowned specialist in furniture and design decoration, Alice’s journey has been nothing short of impressive.

Bastien Valensi, the CEO and founder of Cabaia, is a true expert in the realm of omnichannel commerce. From a young age, he immersed himself in the world of entrepreneurship, learning the intricacies of business through various ventures.

At the age of 6, he dabbled in selling books to earn pocket money, and by 18, he had already set up a company focused on destocking major brands as an online player. These experiences exposed him to crucial aspects of the business world, from understanding margins and digital acquisition strategies to emphasizing customer loyalty and delivering exceptional experiences for enhanced retention.

In 2012, Bastien expanded his company to include a new channel: physical retail. Then, in 2015, he founded Cabaia with the vision of creating an internationally acclaimed accessories brand operating across three distribution channels: Retail, Wholesale, and E-commerce.

The outstanding success of Cabaia is evident, achieving over €15 million in turnover within just five years, with a remarkable growth rate of 100% annually. The Marketing Specialist

Antoine Dubois is the esteemed Global Marketing Strategy Senior Vice President of Accor Group, who has been chosen as a mentor for the Marketing issue at Paris Retail Week.

With an illustrious career that commenced at Leo Burnett, where he handled projects for renowned brands like Heinz, Kellogg’s, and Disney in Paris and Chicago, Antoine then ventured into the marketing department of Disneyland Paris before moving on to the communication department of RTL National French Radio.

Meet Rémi-Pierre Lapprend, the CSR Director of Maisons du Monde, who has been designated as the mentor for the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) category at Paris Retail Week 2023.

He is a true expert in CSR, and his career journey reflects his unwavering commitment to sustainability. He graduated from HEC Paris with a specialization in sustainable development and social business management, setting the foundation for his passion for responsible practices. Following that, he dedicated six years of his career to Deloitte Sustainable Development, gaining invaluable experience in the field.

In 2017, Rémi-Pierre joined Maisons du Monde, where he took charge of responsible transformation and spearheaded the “Good is Beautiful” approach. His expertise in CSR now drives the initiatives of this esteemed furniture and decoration brand with an international presence, boasting over 262 stores across Europe.

Samir Amellal, the Chief Data Officer of Auchan Retail France, will be enlightening us on the theme of Data during Paris Retail Week.

With an impressive educational background, Samir holds master’s degrees in data processing and Data and eBusiness, which form the solid foundation for his expertise in the field.

His professional journey took off in 2010 when he joined the renowned Publicis group, where he climbed the ranks to eventually become Chief Data Officer. Subsequently, in 2017, he embarked on a new chapter in his career by joining Havas, where he served as Managing Director in one of its Data and Digital specialized subsidiaries. Moreover, he contributed significantly to the digital transformation of the Redoute group.

Grégory Chekroun, the Director of Logistics, Transport, and Flows for the Fnac Darty Group, has been selected as the distinguished mentor for the Logistics theme at Paris Retail Week.

Pierre Deuwel, the chosen mentor for this theme, serves as the Head of Payment and anti-fraud at Kiabi.

As a genuine expert in payment methods, Pierre Deuwel’s journey in this field began with his involvement in the internal financial transformation of the European Metropolis of Lille. Subsequently, he joined Cofidis as a business development manager, collaborating with various e-retailers to implement omnichannel payment strategies for esteemed brands like Huawei, Point S, and Clarins, among others.

In early 2022, Pierre Deuwel took on the role of Head of Payment at KIABI, where he skillfully navigated the payment methods for the esteemed French group. Paris Retail Week 2022 program

Day 1: Plenary conferences on the following themes: #Marketing; #CSR and #Marketplaces

Several topics will be addressed during this edition. The first day, September 20, marks the beginning of Paris Retail Week with an introduction from 10:30 to 10:45 am by Arnaud GALLET, Director of Paris Retail Week.

The morning continues with the Havas Commerce insight from 10:45 to 11:15 am by Vincent MAYET, Managing Director of Havas Commerce, who aims to launch the event and present the Havas Commerce study “Global Commerce Observatory”. This study aims to introduce the new challenges of retail in a context of crisis, inflation and war. The study draws up a global state of business and outlines the next evolutions on the side of consumers but also on the side of merchants and future technological and digital innovations.

In the continuity of this day placed under the sign of future retail trends, round tables, mentoring and keynotes will take place between market players.

Three Keynotes will also punctuate this day of exchanges. A first Prestashop Keynote will bring together Faguo, Le Comptoir Irlandais, and Le Petit Vapoteur for feedback on the implementation of an omnichannel strategy aiming at improving the customer experience thanks to Prestashop. The second Shopify Keynote will focus on a growing topic in the field of commerce: the transition from D2C to C2C. Finally, the Django Keynote will answer the question: “Can fractional payments encourage responsible consumption?”

This second day will offer many keynotes, such as Klarna, Checkout.com, Paypal, NRF, or StoryBlok. 

Burger King Keynote. From 2:00 to 2:30 pm, Alasdair Murdoch, CEO of BURGER KING will answer the question “An evolving consumer, galloping inflation”: what strategy to adopt? 

CA Payment Services Keynote. Two payment experts will discuss payment initiation, particularly about optimizing and simplifying the customer journey and management.

ZenDesk Keynote. During this keynote from 11:00 to 11:30, ZenDesk will talk about conversational customer relations. The speaker will review the implementation of WhatsApp messaging in their customer strategies and will study the key figures of the phenomenon.

Paris Retail Week 2022 conferences

The Paris Retail Week is also animated by various conferences, including the mentoring conferences organized by the mentors of the Paris Retails Week on its 8 business themes.

The first day is focused on Marketing, CSR, and Marketplaces, these issues will bring together experts around mentoring and conferences.

A round table on WEB3 and Metaverse will question the opportunities that these innovations offer to today’s and tomorrow’s companies. These technologies raise questions and concerns, but those who have embraced them, particularly in the luxury goods industry, see results in terms of customer experience. Another question will also be raised on “Responsible Metaverse”.

Mentoring sessions on the business issues of the day: Marketing, CSR, and Marketplaces will follow. The mentors chosen for this new edition are Antoine Dubois, Communication and Guest Experience International Expert of GROUPE ACCOR; Rémi-Pierre Lapprend, CSR Director of MAISONS DU MONDE and Maud Behaghel, Senior Director of Planning and Strategy of VINTED.

On the second day, it will be possible to attend conferences on Data, with Samir Amellal, CDO of AUCHAN; New Payments animated by Pierre Deuwel, Head of payments and anti-fraud of KIABI; and the Agile Customer Journey with Alice Hagger, Head of Global Brand Strategy and International Activation of MADE.COM and Tessa Norton Bicard, Head of the brand of TYPOLOGY. The third day marks the end of the event, so from 10:20 to 11 am, the FEVAD and KPMG will meet for a round table with Petit Bateau, Vestiaire Collective, and Groupe Fnac Darty. 

After the Zendesk Keynote, you will have the opportunity to exchange on the occasion of the Insight Influencia and Urban Sublime around the retail trends of 2023 and the business models of the future, with two experts:

The Omnichannel Commerce Mentor

Omnichannel commerce is a term used to designate the practice by which a retailer or a brand will market its offer on all available sales channels (online and offline).

Bastien Valensi, the CEO and founder of CABAIA is an expert in this field. Evolving since birth in the world of entrepreneurship with his father, he developed a merchant mentality from an early age: at 6 years old he started selling his books to make pocket money, at 18 he set up a company of destocking of major brands as a pure web player.

It is through these two experiences that he discovers the business: the importance of margin, digital acquisition strategies, the importance of customer loyalty, and the absolute necessity to deliver an impeccable customer experience to optimize retention.

In 2012, he developed his company on a new channel: physical retail.

Then in 2015, he created CABAIA with the desire to create an international accessories brand based on 3 distribution channels (Retail, Wholesale, and E-commerce).

CABAIA is a success, in 5 years it already achieves more than 15M of turnover with a growth of 100% per year.

It is this success that grants it the place of expert in omnichannel commerce during this Paris Retail Week.

The Marketing Specialist

Antoine Dubois, Communication and Guest Experience International Expert of GROUPE ACCOR, has been appointed as a mentor for the Marketing issue during Paris Retail Week. 

After starting his career at Leo Burnett where he worked between Paris and Chicago for Heinz, Kellogg’s and Disney, he joined the marketing department of Disneyland Paris and then the communication department of RTL.

He joined the ACCOR GROUP in 2011 as head of Media and Social Network Communication for AccorHotels. He evolves within the group as SVP Global Marketing Strategy. He defines the positioning strategy of the Accor brand, the launch of the ALL digital platform and the launch of the Tribe brand, among others. In April 2021, he joined the position he currently holds: Director of Marketing and Customer Experience for the group’s 18 brands in Southern Europe. 

Antoine Dubois has 20 years of experience in the field of communication and marketing and a great deal of expertise in the hotel sector. He is also a member of the board of directors of the Union des Marques and the IAA France. All of his experience naturally justifies his position as a mentor for marketing issues. 

CSR theme

Rémi-Pierre Lapprend, CSR Director of MAISONS DU MONDE, is the mentor for the CSR category, Corporate Social Responsibility, of Paris Retail Week 2022.

He is an expert in CSR since he has built his career in total coherence with his commitments. Indeed, he graduated from HEC Paris with a specialization in sustainable development and social business management. He then spent six years at Deloitte Sustainable Development. Finally, in 2017, he joined MAISONS DU MONDE where he is in charge of responsible transformation and the Good is Beautiful approach. 

Paris Retail Week 2022 will be able to benefit from his CSR expertise, which he now coordinates within the furniture and decoration brand with an international presence and more than 262 stores in Europe. 

Qualified in Data

Samir Amellal offers us the opportunity to learn a lot about Data during the Paris Retail Week thanks to his intervention on this theme. He is the Chief Data Officer of AUCHAN RETAIL FRANCE.

In terms of diplomas, Samir Amellal obtained a master’s degree in data processing and a master’s degree in Data and eBusiness. 

In 2010, he joined the Publicis group. He evolves within the company to become Chief Data Officer. In 2017, he joined Havas, in one of its subsidiaries specialized in Data and Digital, as Managing Director. He also worked for La Redoute to ensure the digital transformation of the group. 

In parallel, Samir Amellal teaches Artificial Intelligence, holds patents in Data, is a shareholder in two digital start-ups and participates in several major French digital mission projects. 

His range of experience and skills has earned him the position of mentor for the Data issue of Paris Retail Week 2022.

At the forefront of logistics

Grégory Chekroun, Director of Logistics, Transport and Flows for the FNAC DARTY GROUP, has been chosen as a mentor for the Logistics theme. 

Before entering the retail sector, Grégory Chekroun began his career in industry and then joined Capgemini Consulting for three years. 

He then managed several companies in the distribution sector. In particular, he piloted the Supply Chain transformation of BUT, then the Supply Chain, Transformation and Indirect Purchasing department of Pomona as well as that of Stokomani.

In 2021, he joined the FNAC DARTY GROUP as Director of Logistics, Transport and Flows. 

His strong implantation for many years now in the distribution and logistics sector allows him to position himself as an expert for this 2022 edition. 

A marketplaces’ pro

Maud Behaghel is Senior Director of Planning and Strategy at VINTED. Over the years, she has built a 100% marketplaces background which naturally earned her the position of mentor for this issue. 

Maud Behaghel started her career at Vestiaire Collective in 2010. She participated in its launch as she was in charge of marketing and communication. 

In 2014, she joined Uber where she also contributed to the launch of the platform in France, then in Europe and internationally.

Five years later, she returned to the world of fashion and second hand at United Wardrobe. In 2020, VINTED bought the company and Maud Behaghel became the director of operations and then evolved to the position she holds today. 

It is a career punctuated by marketplaces in a very dynamic sector that has allowed her to acquire this expertise in the field. 

Payment professional

The mentor chosen for this theme is Pierre Deuwel, Head of Payment & Anti-Fraud at Kiabi. 

A true expert in payment methods, Pierre Deuwel started in the field by participating in the internal financial transformation of the European Metropolis of Lille. He then joined Cofidis as a business development manager, where he worked with e-retailers to deploy omnichannel payment strategies for Huawei, Point S and Clarins among others. 
At the beginning of 2022, Pierre Deuwel joined KIABI as Head of Payment, where he pilots the payment methods of the French group.
